Dr. James Burnett

Dr. Burnett joined Oakdale in the spring of 2026. He brings with him a Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies from Wheaton College, a Master's of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Minnesota, along with decades of experience pastoring and teaching at the collegiate level. He is skilled in ancient languages, including Latin, Greek, and Hebrew, and has a deep expertise in the other subjects in the Humanities. In his free time, Dr. Burnett enjoys hiking, local theater productions, and growing chili peppers. He and his high school crush, Mrs. Dawn Burnett (teaching in the Logic School), have been married for 35 years and have two children. They attend and serve at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Pontiac.
